  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

You're acting as if it's something dire when it obviously isn't since the unemployment rate went down this year.

    1. tenguy
      This year?

We are talking about the last 5-8 years, do try to keep up with the grownups.

Sorry, tenguy, I live in the present. You know, where things actually matter. I also don't see why you're trying to prove a point of crisis at precisely the time where the largest recession in my lifetime occurred. It's disingenuous at best, but I suppose the "grown ups" already know that and choose to ignore it in order to support their preconceived notions.

The San Francisco Bay area will always have an advantage over Texas because most brilliant, well educated, and affluent people would rather live in San Francisco than Houston, Dallas, or anywhere else in Texas.

    1. shootersa
Have you been to San Francisco in the last year or so?
      It's become a landfill. A garbage dump.
A trash pit with endless traffic jams, filthy streets, incredibly high rents and housing costs, overbearing government regulations that protect illegal immigrants, criminals, and punish business.
I used to like visiting San Francisco; you never knew what new oddity you might see and it was pleasant country. I hate even going on business now, and would never go for a vacation.

San Francisco is different from the Bay Area. Some people like to live in SF, then commute to the South Bay (Silicon Valley) where the jobs are. I've never understood that.

Some of the cities in Texas are really nice. The funny thing is that quite a few of them are bastions of the Democratic party. Just look at Austin, one of the gems that everyone likes to bring up. And it is pretty nice, but while many people here are trying to turn it into a Republican success story...it's not.

Then you have the rest of Texas, which is just awful.

Texas is just awful. Y'all stay out. Also, no one here is brilliant, or well educated, certainly not affluent either...

I love a good chuckle on a Sunday morning.

Home is what you make it. Texas, Cali, makes no difference. You can find what you don't like and find what you do like in both places. I have never been to either state, but from what I read it seems Texas is on a better track than Cali...but I could be wrong.

I like Colorado. It's a beautiful state, probably one of the best if you're outdoorsy at all. South Dakota was nice too, but let's be real...Colorado has legal pot. Get baked and go on a hike, I just solved America's obesity problem.

    1. shootersa
Yep. Except Too Goddam many people moving there. Property and rents are getting as silly as California.
Plus, them immigrants to Colorado can't drive worth a shit.

Raising tax rates and the minimum wage got us out of the Great Depression.

What about the Republican delusion that tax cuts will pay off the national debt?

And we've already seen that system and it doesn't work.

I'd give at least some credit to the New Deal. The topic is actually of great debate amongst economists.

The reality is that the great depression started in 1930, and continued until 1940, during which the "new deal" was enacted between 1933 and 1938.
Buildup for WWII began in 1938 but started in earnest in 1940 and continued until 1945. A mild recession occurred in 1946 as the US economy moved off of a war footing.
The new deal had very little impact on the economy, other than getting some work in return for what amounted to government welfare.

Once again, pure unmitigated bullshit. WWII ended the Great Depression.

      - tenguy

The Great Depression was ended by high government spending and high government employment paid for by high taxes on the well to do. Military spending is government spending. As I have pointed out previously it did not have to be military spending. It had to be government spending. The private sector was not producing enough jobs.

Regardless, government spending DID get us out of the GD. Was it WWII? Was it the New Deal? A combination?
Again, the subject is of great debate.

Pathetic taker state, remember? I guess your ineptitude prevents you from keeping up with your own rhetoric over the course of 4 to 5 hours.

An average taker is still a taker. And one would think a taker state shouldn't rank consistently at the bottom of every "best of" list and at the top of every "worst of" list.

I've heard mostly good things about Colorado, one day I actually need to get in my car and travel west of the Mississippi River. Go west young man...well, not so young anymore, but ready for some first hand knowledge about what lies west.

      Shooters travel tips;
Be sure to hit the 4 corners area; around Dove Creek and Dolores are my favorites.
Oh, and hit the Glenwood Hot Springs. Bring a friend; ain't no sex like hot spring sex, and you can rent hotel rooms that have a natural hot spring feeding the hot tub that is in the room.
Or, you can risk arrest and do it at the public pool .............

I've been considering moving there. It's pretty great. However, as shooter said, housing prices are going up, up, up.

It's kind of amazing that legal pot is such a draw. I'm surprised more states aren't following suit after they saw all the cash in brings in.

This is strikingly like Obama's "you didn't create it, Government did" speech.

Roosevelt's New Deal wasn't ending the depression. That was also massive government spending. Most of Roosevelt's programs were in place before 1936 and if they were the answer to ending the depression, why were we in a depression for an additional 2 years?

WWII started for America on December 8, 1941; beginning in late 1938 we began ramping up for WWII with lend lease among other things. The economy literally exploded over night, not to make any puns.

The point is, massive government spending is not the fix all for a bad economy. We didn't learn that in 1935, and we damn sure didn't learn it in 2009.......
