The Indian Air Force pilot, who died after a Jaguar fighter jet crashed near Gujarat’s Jamnagar on Wednesday night during a training sortie, was engaged just 10 days ago and was all set for a wedding in November.

When the aircraft suffered a technical glitch during a routine sortie, the Flight Lieutenant and his co-pilot ensured that the jet did not crash-land in the populated areas, preventing the loss of civilian lives.

According to officials, Flight Lieutenant Yadav remained in the plane to fly it to an unpopulated area.

“The pilots faced a technical malfunction and initiated ejection, avoiding harm to the airfield and local population. Unfortunately, one pilot succumbed to his injuries, while the other is receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Jamnagar," the Indian Air Force said.

This was the second crash of a Jaguar within a month. Concerns are being raised about the aging fleet.

According to the witnesses, the plane caught fire as it crash-landed, and the debris scattered across the field. The locals reached the spot and informed the authorities about the incident.

Merely 10 days before the tragedy, Siddharth got engaged on March 23. His wedding was set to take place on November 2. He had recently been to his home in Rewari and had recently resumed duty on March 31.

Flight Lieutenant Yadav is the fourth generation in his family to serve the country. He came from a family with a long military history and service to the nation. His great-grandfather worked in the Bengal Engineers during British rule. His grandfather was in the paramilitary forces, and his father served in the IAF.
